Be Still and Know that I am God
If it seems that I’m a broken record when it comes to this verse it is because I have learned so much from these eight short words. I know this for sure: when I focus my attention on God and God alone, I can be certain my help comes from Him. The Bible teaches us that all good things come from God but He doesn’t always get credit for it.
If I am in a jam and need help, I immediately cry out to God and seek his help. I don’t call everyone I know and seek their advice or help. I look directly to my Father . . . and I tell Him so! I speak words out loud so I hear them, too, and let Father know, (1) I believe He can, 92) I believe He will and (3) I expect Him to help me. . . handle, solve, resolve the issue.
I revisit in my mind situations in the past where God has pulled me through. I also concentrate on reminding myself of God’s attributes. He is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. I remind myself that several times in the Bible God tells us that nothing is too difficult for Him, that all things are possible with Him.
Then I am still. That doesn’t mean I don’t go about my daily responsibilities. It means I give that situation totally over to the Lord and I cease all effort to solve it. I rest in the Lord. My prayers are not reiterating the problem. God doesn’t have a hearing problem. He got it the first time! My prayers are giving thanks that God is at work in my life and that He will see me through. I remind Him of all the wonderful things he has done for me in the past and how much I appreciate them.
I keep my faith strong by thanksgiving and worship. I refuse to take up the problem once I have put it into God’s hands. The enemy is always right there to urge me to work on it and to get me to doubt. Remember this: if the devil’s lips are moving he is lying! Don’t listen to him – focus your mind and heart on the Father.
Then, when the solution comes! What rejoicing! There is no doubt Who worked the situation out for you! There is no doubt Who orchestrated every detail! It was your loving, heavenly Father. Not only is the problem solved but your faith is stronger than ever!
To God be the glory! Great things He has done!
